The National Institute of Telecommunications (NIT) – the State Research Institute (Instytut Łączności – Państwowy Instytut Badawczy) is a national research and development institution for telecommunications and information technologies. It conducts development work on state telecommunication networks, system and telecommunication device normalization and standardization.

NIT works for the development of society and knowledge based industry. It offers scientific research and technical support for national institutions. It conducts the work done in practice by commercial entities on the market.

NIT cooperates with organizations and scientific institutes, helping with the integration of the scientific community. It actively participates in creation of the European Research Area. Research activities are focused on scientific development and practical applications of the obtained results.
Since 2003, NIT has participated in
the ITU Centres of Excellence programme,
conducting courses and trainings
attended by over 5,000 participants
from over 100 countries around the world.
Since 2023, NIT has been a member of
the ITU Academy Training Centres programme.

ITU’s new flagship programme to develop
the capacity of ICT professionals
across the globe.

In 2023, one of ITU’s key training delivery mechanisms, the Centres of Excellence programme was replaced by the ITU Academy Training Centres (ATCs) programme, following the outcomes of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) 2022 where the ITU membership adopted the revised Resolution 73.

The ITU Academy Training Centres programme takes the ITU’s capacity development work forward into the future. It directly contributes to building knowledge and skills among professionals in the ICT field thus enabling them to contribute to, and fully participate, in the digital transformation.
